If there’s anything that the pandemic has taught us, it’s that reading books can be a great form of entertainment. By making your imagination run wild and taking you on a roller coaster ride, fiction books and novels are sure to find a place in your heart (or on your shelf or tablet!). Other genres of books are equally as interesting and in some cases tend to be more informative than a fictional novel. So, it ultimately depends on the reader and their preferences.
Here, in this blog, our focus remains on fiction books. Thus, we will be listing down three of the fictional novels that we think you absolutely have to read so far in 2022. While these books may not have been released in this very year, they are still good enough to appreciate no matter how much time has passed since their publishing. After all, a good book is always a good book! So, let’s see our list and which books you really need to read!
- Hopeless by Colleen Hoover
Hopeless is a romance novel that was published in 2012 and is written by Colleen Hoover. The story follows a girl named Sky Davis, who meets a boy named Dean Holder. The two of them quickly realize that they have an intense connection and seem to get closer because of that. As the book progresses, Sky gets to learn more about the mysterious and unpredictable Holder and his past. Later on, Sky also finds something that she was never supposed to, and the two of them are thrown into various situations testing their love and honesty to ultimately find the truth about everything.
Colleen Hoover does a wonderful job of keeping the readers on their toes in the entire book. She is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of more than 23 novels, some of which are Ugly Love, It Ends With Us, and All Your Perfects. If you have already read Hopeless, then maybe you should check out Losing Hope, which is the story of Dean Holder and what is going on in his mind, when he meets the girl he has been looking for since he was a little boy.
- Map of Time by Felix J. Palma
The Map of Time is a science fiction novel that was published in 2008 and written by Félix J. Palma. The book was originally written and published in Spanish and it was later translated and published in English in 2011. The book is divided into three parts and each part focuses on the story of a different character. The story is set in Victorian London and although the book is fictional, some characters are real.
The first part of the book focuses on Andrew Harrington, a man who falls in love with Marie Kelly, a prostitute. Later on, he discovers her dead body and is completely devastated, turning to alcohol and drugs. While he is on the verge of killing himself, his cousin comes to tell him about a man who claims to have accomplished time traveling. The second part of the book focuses on Claire Haggerty, a woman who is bored with her life and wants to find adventure. She finds out about “Murray’s Time Travel” and decides to take a trip there and go into the future to escape her life. She happens to meet a man from the future, Captain Derek Shackleton, the one who leads the human race against automatons in the year 2000. The third and final section focuses on HG Wells, the author of “The Time Machine”, who does not believe in time travel and struggles with that belief when he is met with the contrary.
Félix grips the readers in his storytelling making sure that they are feeling everything the characters on the page might be feeling. He explores the topic of time travel and what happens if the past is changed. This book is the first book in the series and there are two more books that follow, namely “The Map of the Sky” and “The Map of Chaos”. This series is a must-read, especially if you like a good science fiction story.
- The Help by Kathryn Stockett
The Help is a historical fiction novel published in 2009 and written by Kathryn Stockett. The story follows three women, each unhappy in their lives for different reasons. The three of them come together to work on a book that might put their lives at risk. Two of these women, Aibileen and Minny, are African-American women that work in American households for white people as this book is set in the early 1960s. Skeeter, the third woman in this trio, is a 22-year-old girl who has just gotten a degree and is trying to become a writer.
Upon returning home after graduating, her mother seems to be intent on getting her married off, while Skeeter wants to focus on her career as a writer. While everyone seems to mistreat African-Americans without giving it much thought, Skeeter seems particularly annoyed by this and so, she gets the idea of writing a book based on the stories of these women and how difficult their lives are. She tries to get both, Aibileen and Minny on board with her idea, and after much convincing, she is able to do so.
This book will have you crying and laughing all at once. While the book is fictional, it is inspired by real-life treatment and racism that many African-Americans face even to this day. The book also shows how there are certain lines and boundaries in our society that inflict fear and pain in many people and even entire communities. The book was very well-received around the world and a film adaptation was released in 2011. If you’ve read the book, we also recommend that you watch the movie.
Where can I find these books?
Of course, this is a very important question. While you can find hard copies (and softcopies) of these books in bookstores, you can also find the e-books on certain websites. There are many websites like Google Books, Open Library, etc. where you can find and purchase or download these books and read them on your smartphone or laptop. To be able to download them, you will need to have a strong internet connection so the download is done smoothly.
Xfinity internet deals are quite a steal, especially when it comes to the speed and prices you get them for. Xfinity is one of the most subscribed internet service providers in the U.S. and their services along with prices are known to be quite reasonable. With such a good internet connection, you are bound to enjoy reading the book online or offline, wherever you like!
Conclusion
Now, it’s time to end this chapter and turn the page (pun intended!). A new chapter (or article) awaits us! After all, you can find a multitude of genres for books. This article was targeting three fictional novels only, however, there are tons more fiction books that are worth reading and while this article was targeting fiction books only, there are also great books that you should read which belong to other genres. Nevertheless, that is a topic for another day!
